What we collect, why, and how to make us delete it.
CometX collects as little personal information as it can, uses it only for the thing you asked for, and deletes it when you ask. This page says exactly what that means in practice.
Last updated: September 2026. Questions: contact@cometx.ca.
The whole policy in five lines.
- We collect your name and email only when you fill in a form.
- We use it to send you the thing you asked for, and nothing else.
- We never sell, rent or share it, and there is no advertising tracking on this site.
- Every email we send has a one-click unsubscribe.
- Ask us to delete your record and it is done within seven days.
What each form collects.
Register for updates
Name and email, required. Organization, role and interests, optional. Used to send the research newsletter and to note formats you need. Kept until you unsubscribe.
Request a copy
Name, email, publication and format. Used to send you that publication. Kept for twelve months so we can honour follow-up requests, then deleted.
Built Here nomination
Your name and email, the business nominated, and what they did. Used to contact you and, with their agreement, the business. Nobody is written about without agreeing first.
Work with us
Contact details, expertise, availability, links, and any conflicts you declare. Kept on file so we can approach you about relevant engagements, until you ask us to remove it.
Contact and proposal requests
Whatever you put in the message. Used to answer you and, if it becomes an engagement, retained as part of the client record.
The assistant
Nothing is stored on our side unless you submit the message form inside it. If you start a live chat, the transcript is held by our chat provider — see below.
Who else touches your data.
We keep this list short deliberately. Each of these is a processor acting on our instructions, not a party we sell data to.
- Hosting
Cloudflare Pages
Serves the site and keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention. We do not use those logs for analytics.
- Forms
FormSubmit
Delivers form submissions to our inbox. It sees what you typed, in transit.
- Live chat
Tawk.to
Loaded only when you ask to speak to a person — never on an ordinary page view. If you chat, Tawk holds the transcript on our behalf.
- Fonts
Google Fonts
Typefaces are fetched from Google, which means your browser makes a request to their servers when a page loads.
- Images
Unsplash
Photography is served from Unsplash's image CDN, so the same applies.
What we deliberately do not use
No Google Analytics or equivalent. No advertising pixels, no Meta or LinkedIn tags, no cross-site tracking, and no cookies set by us. We would rather know less about you and be able to say so plainly.
What you can ask us to do.
Under Canadian federal privacy law (PIPEDA) and Ontario's rules, you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. Write to contact@cometx.ca and we will answer within seven days rather than the thirty the law allows.
Our newsletter follows Canada's anti-spam legislation (CASL). Every message identifies CometX, gives a postal contact route, and carries a working unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately rather than in ten days.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. We would rather you told us first, but we will not stand in the way.
